Plenary Session 8 - Year In Review
Timeslot: Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 12:15pm to 12:30pm
Mechanical signals are instrumental to the health of cartilage and inappropriate loading due to joint injuries has long been recognized to contribute to the development of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Studies of cartilage mechanics have focused on determining the relationship between mechanical triggers and cartilage response on the tissue, matrix, cellular, and nanoscale macromolecular levels. This talk will review papers from the last year focusing on recent advances in cartilage biomechanics and mechanobiology.
